Meat In A Can. Good. Meat Not In A Can. Better.

I found these blast-from-the-past Ma Ling cans of meat in my favorite Asian grocery store the other day.

Didn’t someone tell me this stuff was banned? (And I don’t mean philosophically, for my health’s sake, but like legally, for my health’s sake?)

Maybe I should return those 10 cans I bought.

You do know I was kidding, right?

I only bought five.

  • yes that was me! it was banned in singapore for a while because the meat in some batches failed safety standards… had too much nitrates in it.
    i think it’s fine now.
er, … eat it in small batches and don’t binge??

  • How about trying SPAM? Maybe healthier than the Ma Ling ones? Edwin loves them too (with Nasi Lemak) so I buy the SPAM ones :)

  • err.. in case you are unaware. Walmart also sells luncheon meat, it’s called great value, aka Walmart brand. And it’s like $1.50 per can. Super cheap, we stock up on those.

Don’t tell me how much you paid for those, i’m sure it’s sky high.

  • i’m quite sure those bad boys are still unavailable here in Singapore… hmm

  • Thanks for the tips, all. LONG LIVE LUNCHEON MEAT!
