I never understood the fuss about breast meat.
(Alright alright! Take your mind out of the gutter, people!)
I’m talking chicken.
Chicken meat.
Chicken breast meat, specifically.
I don’t like the white, tough meat, and have always gone for the tender, dark thigh meat.
I don’t like how chewy breast meat is. I don’t like how the “grain” of the breast meat is long and hard.
I do like how thigh meat just crumbles in your mouth. I do like how the “grain” seems shorter and just falls apart.
Why are people obsessed with breast meat?
With my track record, I’m pretty sure what I like is probably not “healthy” at all. So at this point, I expect people to spam me about how breast meat is really better for me.
Okay. Tell me.
Thigh to imBreast me.

actually, this is what i found on the internet:
“Chicken breast is the leanest part of a fresh chicken but in the table it shows chicken fat is lower in chicken legs, this is simply because the bone was included on weighing. In reality a bone is often present in the leg and the bone may make up 30% of the weight. In fact a chicken leg contains more fat than the breast for meat only.”
so… that means chicken breast IS more fattening than thigh meat. haha!
oh i forgot to include the link here
My friend told me that people in US like breast meat more than thigh meat, and that breast meat cost more than thigh meat. True?
thigh meat always tastes better. at KFC, at least.
In the US (at least at my grocery store) chicken breasts are about twice as expensive as the degradingly named “thigh parts”. I agree that thigh meat is good. Chicken breasts definitely need to be cooked correctly. I like to mix breasts and thigs for things like soup and enchiladas. Or better yet, just boil the whole dang chicken – there is a lot of flavor in the bones and connective tissue too.
Mmm. chicken.
I like dark meat more. And i definitely agree that for KFC, thigh meat tastes better. It’s $1 cheaper for thigh as compared to breast meat at KFC =)
Yes the breast is more expensive here, something I never understood. But I think it costs more because it “looks” nicer and people here generally don’t want to see anything on the bone.
Because you don’t have to deal with the bone. Heh.
In Singapore, you have to specifically state that you would like chicken thigh meat in a chicken rice stall – cause it costs more than breast meat.
that reminds me.. Back in Singapore, we could try to state the parts we want in Singapore for KFC too… , when i buy KFC, i always say “I dun wan wings or breasts parts.” As 3pc chicken can be any parts. And i dun like KFC breast meat cos it’s tough.. I give wings a miss cos they are miserable in size. But over in USA, the KFC set is stated clearly the number of pcs of which parts, eg 2 thigh + l leg..
